Project Builder - The Super 'MAN' Tip

OSXFAQ Reader Tip By Scott Thompson

I've seen several tips about making man pages easier on the eyes. I contributed a tip myself quite a while back about using ghostscript, grog, and groff to make man pages that print out nicely.

One of the best utilities I've found recently for viewing man pages is Apple's own "Project Builder". With the Jaguar developer tools set, the Project Builder IDE has an option right on the "help" menu for viewing man pages. It formats the pages with niceties like colored and styled text and gives you a window that you can resize to your liking.

Granted, Project Builder is a bit heavy handed for something as simple as viewing man pages, but I find Project Builder handy for so many things (writing AppleScripts for example) that it's a valuable part of my Mac OS X toolbox.

Enjoy :-)
