OSXFAQ Reader Tips

The very best access to all your bookmarks in Safari

OSXFAQ Reader Tip By Biron

To have the very best access to all your bookmarks in Safari, put them ALL in folders and subfolders in the Bookmarks bar. That's all there is to it! This way you can have 15-20 listings visible at all times in your Bookmark bar. For example, my own Bookmarks bar includes Address Book and Favorites (these 2 names cannot be shortened) followed by web (with the 3 subfolders: sites (I have 3 of them), emails (I have 3 of them) and ISP (3 links to a single ISP) Other links include: news, $, fun, photo, SF (for my San Francisco hometown links), ref, Mac, art, music and 7 more for a total of 19 categories.

The trick is to use short names for the folders that will appear in the Bookmark Bar. Instead of Entertainment use Fun with subfolders Games and Movies. Use the single character $ for Financial or Banking. Other suggested titles include: Mac, Ref (for Reference and search engine links), Med (for Medical links), Bid (for auction links), art, eat, shop.

Enjoy :-)
