OSXFAQ Reader Tips
2002 E-Mail Storage In Mail - How To
OSXFAQ Reader Tip By Biron
Well, here's a real New Year's tip for all you OS X MAIL users: Time
to store away all those 2002 emails in your MAIL <In> and <Sent>
boxes. It's easy and here's how:
1. Close your MAIL program.
2. Open the following folders: Users>home>Library>Mail> POP.
3. Make duplicate copies of both <INBOX.mbox> and <Sent Messages.mbox>.
4. Rename these copies to include the same date: first the year and and
then month of your save i.e. <INBOX02_12.mbox> and <Sent
Messages02_12.mbox>.
(Caution: Whatever name you use, remember to always include the
<.mbox> extension.)
4. Open your <Mailboxes> folder located in Mail folder with POP (See
2., above).
5. Put the renamed duplicate copies of your <In> and <Sent> messages in
the <Import> folder for future direct MAIL access.
6. Open your MAIL program and delete all emails in your <In> and <Sent>
boxes you do not need for immediate reference. Nothing is lost since
you can see them all anytime you want -- just two clicks away -- by
going to the <Import> folder where your archived emails are all lined
up in chronological order.
Happy New Year 2003!
Enjoy :-)
