Sound Effects from iMovie 2 to iMovie 3 - its Groovy Baby

OSXFAQ Reader Tip By James Alguire

Bummed because you can't find those favorite sound effects from iMovie 2 in iMovie 3. Well rejoice because those sound are still there, you just need to tweak iMovie 3 in order to access them.

One way to add missing older iMovie sound effects and other sound effects to iMovie 3 sound effects menu.

1. Go to the applications folder and locate iMovie 3.

2. Control-click (or right-click if you have a 2 or 3-button mouse) on the iMovie 3 icon and select Show Package Contents.

3. Double-click on the Contents folder, then double-click on the Resources folder.

4. Locate the Sound Effects folder and double-click to open it. In the Sound Effects folder you will find all the iMovie 2 sound effects along with two new folders: Skywalker Sound Effects and Standard Sound Effects

5. Move all of the iMovie 2 sound files into the Standard Sound Effects folder.

6. Close the window and launch iMovie 3.

7. Once iMovie 3 is open click on the Audio button and select iMovie Sound Effects from the pull-down menu. All of the older iMovie 2 sound effects and the newer iMovie 3 sound effects should appear in the Standard Sound Effects part of the menu.

8. You can add any other sound effects you want to appear in iMovie 3 this way.

It's just that easy

Enjoy :-)
