Robin Rowe is a partner at motion picture technology company MovieEditor.com and writes articles about software development and computer graphics for many magazines. He leads two users groups: Open Source Programmers and Linux Movies. He is the release manager for Film Gimp, the most popular open source software tool in feature motion picture work. http://filmgimp.sourceforge.net/

Andy Prock is the Mac Film Gimp Port Lead (Edgewood, Washington) Graduated with a Masters Degree in C.S. from Western Washington University and currently looking for a job. Besides Mac Film Gimp, ported Unicon to the Mac. Active in IGDA (International Game Developers Association). When not at the computer, Andy practices on his guitar.

Film Gimp is a motion picture editing tool primarily used for painting and retouching of movie images. Its application in feature movie productions includes the movies Scooby-Doo, Harry Potter, Stuart Little and Stuart Little 2. Film Gimp is the most successful open source tool in feature motion picture work today. Film Gimp is based on Gimp, the GNU Image Manipulation Program. Film Gimp is an independent project, separate from Gimp and GNU.

Gimp is a widely-used alternative to Adobe Photoshop, a popular tool for professional image editing. Film Gimp extended Gimp to operate upon a series of images (with a frame manager) and in 16-bit linear or floating point color depths. Film Gimp, at 48-bit rgb, has much more color depth capacity than Gimp at 24-bit rgb. Although Film Gimp has more colors than can be displayed at once on a conventional 24-bit rgb monitor, it makes a difference when working with the higher dynamic range of film.
