MCE or Macintosh Computer Expo is NCMUG's annual fundraising event. Held each year in September at the Santa Rosa Junior College campus, thousands of Macintosh enthusiast come from all over the North Bay to visit with Macintosh product vendors and attend informational workshops.ĘSince 1991 the show has grown in attendance from around 300 to over 2,500 and is now the largest Expo of itŐs type in the North Bay second only to Mac World in San Francisco. Lorene is Past President of NCMUG. She began her association with NCMUG as a new member who volunteered to help with a fundraising event which lead to her election as President, a capacity in which she served for four years. She is currently NCMUG's Vendor Relations contact person. Lorene also serves on the Apple User Group Advisory Board as "Vendor Queen" and works closely with vendors to improve relationships between the user group community and vendors and to negotiate discounts for members of user groups in the US and abroad. In spite of an educational background in Clinical Psychology and twelve years in the Mental Health field, Lorene decided to switch over to working in the software industry and has that been a wild ride for the past 5 years. Alex has been involved in computer graphics for nearly 20 years. He has extensive experience in digital production including print, real-time graphics, multimedia titles, forensic animation, television, and film. He spent several years on the production of Star Wars: Episode 1 (at JAK Films and then at Industrial Light and Magic). Alex has taught at the Academy of Art and San Francisco State - Multimedia Studies Program. He writes for 3D Magazine, 3D World, and Post and is a regular guest on TechTV. Dori Smith
Dori is co-author of "JavaScript for the World Wide Web: Visual QuickStart Guide, 5th Edition," author of "Java 2 for the World Wide Web: Visual QuickStart Guide," and a contributor to numerous online and print computer industry magazines. A frequent speaker at industry conferences, she is on the Steering Committee for the Web Standards Project, as well as Publisher and ListMom for the Wise-Women's Web organization. Bert Monroy
Bert Monroy is considered one of the pioneers of digital art. His work has been seen in many magazines, motion pictures and scores of books. He co-authored "The Official Adobe Photoshop Handbook", the first book ever written on Photoshop plus many other books. He serves his installed base of clients which include Apple Computer, Adobe Systems, Pioneer Electronics, Fujitsu, SONY, AT&T, Chevron and American Express. Scott Sheppard is the founder and editor of the popular Macintosh Web Site, http://www.OSXFAQ.com He is also a monthly Contributing Editor to Macworld UK magazine and produces a daily audio broadcast of Mac news and information Inside Mac Radio. Scott Sheppard previously hosted the Inside Mac Show broadcast by CNET radio. Greg Douglas - Director of Network Operations
Gregory Douglas has fifteen years of experience in the radio, television and computer- related areas. He was the Director of Network Operations for Personal Achievement Radio, which included responsibilities for the production, operation and distribution of the "PAR" format. As the primary individual in charge of the on-air sound for "PAR", Mr. Douglas interacted with the motivational authors, Nightingale-Conant, ABC Radio Networks, PAR O & O's and affiliates and the broadcast talent. He pioneered the transition to digital for the flagship PAR studios. In addition, Mr. Douglas was M.I.S. Manager for Douglas Broadcasting Inc. where he was responsible for the traffic and business computer functions as well as the computer networking of DBI/PAR radio outlets. Previously, he was the General Manager of DBI's Seattle operation and Station Manager at WBPS-AM in Boston. Also, Mr. Douglas has been involved in almost all areas of broadcasting, including traffic, business, engineering, production and sales.
