From the digital hub to the den of the Panther operating system, Scott is always on top of what is happening in the world of Macintosh and has his finger on the pulse of the industry. With a tasty serving of news, reviews, information, and interviews, Inside Mac is all Mac, all the time, and one of the unique tech shows on radio today. Inside Mac - May 22nd 2004This Weeks GuestsGordon Meyer - Macintosh Home Automation Expert
Gordon Meyer is a writer, ethnographer, and software engineer who specializes in tools for creating and displaying onscreen documentation. His house in Silicon Valley is fully automated and controlled by a talking computer that wakes his family in the morning, keeps an eye on the dog during the day, and alerts him to missed phone calls and package deliveries. An avid home automator for several years, Gordon discusses how to expand the "digital hub" to include include your home, security, and other fun applications, and he will provide updated news from his popular O'Reilly Mac OS X Conference session on the same topic. Daniel East - Future Sonics
Daniel East Director of Worldwide Marketing Future Sonics Incorporated With nearly twenty years experience as a professional touring musician, audio engineer, production manager and tour manager for a variety of artists, East has also worked in marketing for major record labels such as RCA and A&M records in their "hey day" of the late eighties before starting his own firm. East was working with clients of many genres and styles; however, the common denominator was always quality. His unique understanding and perspective contribute to Future Sonics' product development team, support services and artist relations. Although East has been with Future Sonics since 1997, he remains the "newbie" compared to the experience of the Future Sonics staff and management. East's experience includes being a featured presenter at Audio Engineering Society (AES) conferences, National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) conferences and events, National Academy of the Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS - the Grammy¨ organization) as well as various Apple User Groups events and conferences (Including "The Party for Everyone" at Macworld SF 2004 w/IMR). Future Sonics' introduction to the Apple community was humbling and exciting as clients were reporting producing rough mixes being 'bounced down' to their first generation iPods -- and this practice continues today. As clients realized that the quality of sound from digital media devices was totally reliant on the output devices, the snowball effect found a flurry of attention coming to the company for their universal fit Future Sonics Earsª which gained a reputation as being the "best sounding, ugliest earphones on the market," according to one reviewer. The primary focus is the sound quality being the best possible, at any price. In a recent review, Noah Kravitz of Powerbook Central called the Earsª "the best iPod earphones ever..." As a "Mac guy," East is also an active volunteer with Macintosh user organizations and individual groups. In addition, he is active with the H.E.A.R. organization, promoting hearing health education and awareness. http://www.futuresonics.com/The Inside Mac Radio StaffScott Sheppard - Executive Producer / Host
