Dr. Mac's OS X Tip-of-the-Day

Dr. Mac Shows Where To Find The Free TrueType Font Editor You Already Have.

By BOB LEVITUS

Welcome back to another edition of Inexorable-Raging-Thunder-Lizard-OS X-Power-User Week, with tips by Lucas Mathis.

Want a free TrueType Font Editor? Easy: install either Simplified or Traditional Chinese Language Support (System Preferences -> Software Update). Open your Applications folder, open the Utilities folder and look inside the "Asia Text Extras" folder. Voila, a free TrueType Font Editor from Apple.

Isn't that something? I didn't have to install anything--the TrueType Font Editor was right where he said it would be. I guess I installed it by accident during one of my many OS X reinstalls. :-)

I played with it for a few minutes and managed to make it Quit Unexpectedly three times. I don't think it likes fonts that aren't Chinese or Korean. Oh well. You can't beat the price--like the Tip-of-the-Day, it's FREE!
