Dr. Mac's OS X Tip-of-the-Day

You don't have to be limited to a single iPhoto Library folder anymore... Dr. Mac has been using a program that lets you have as many as you like! And it's absolutely FREE!

By BOB LEVITUS

It's another fabulous Freeware Friday! YEA! This week's spotlighted program is a gem that resolves one of my biggest gripes about iPhoto:

I don't want all my pictures inside the Pictures folder inside my Home directory.

and

I do want to have several iPhoto Library folders.

I hate that. What's their problem? It's like the developer (which happens to be Apple) is saying, "You vill do it our way and you vill like it. Vun folder per person. No more, and no less. Ve vill tell you where you will keep it. Resistance is futile."

Brian Webster's intelligent iPhotoLibraryManager not only solved the problem completely, it solved it for free. I like that. This clever freeware application lets you create multiple photo library folders in any location you want on any hard drive or volume.

Oh, there is one last thing... Brian is also the author of one of the most addicting freeware games ever put out for OS X. I'm telling you, do not download iColumns if you have anything else to do this decade. Don't get this game. Don't point your browser at http://homepage.mac.com/bwebster/icolumns.html and definitely don't click that download link. It's very, very, very (did I mention that it's very) addicting.

Have a great weekend. I'll be back with a new tip Monday.
