Cocoa For Amateurs - Project 1 - Notes on using the example code

by Dr. John Timmer, Contributing Editor

Some Notes on Using this Code:

I'm not going to reinvent the wheel and develop some new and clever variant of one of the many open source licenses that exist. I'm not even going to make an attempt to write something in a legally binding manner. I'm just going to give a rough idea of the conditions under which I'll allow the use of this code, and ask that anyone who's going to use the code or its product to try to respect the spirit of these conditions.

All code is provided without warranty. The use of it or the software produced from it are at the user's risk. I'm not responsible for any damage it does to your system or sanity. Those providing improvements to this code will be appreciated and acknowledged. Providing substantial revisions of this code which are distributed will entitle you to hold others to the conditions described below.

If the code which is provided is for a product for which there is a charge (i.e. - shareware), people who build the product for use from the provided code are expected to pay the same charge as if they had downloaded the product.

Use of portions or excerpts of the code in other software is permissible as follows:

Use in personal projects (those that are not distributed) or projects that are distributed within a not-for-profit or educational institution is permissible under all circumstances.

Use in shareware entitles me to a license for the use of that shareware.

Use in a product that is distributed under any other license, in commercial software, or in software that is distributed within a for-profit company is at my discretion. Please contact me to sort that out.
