OSXFAQ Seminars - QuickTime Broadcasting & Streaming Broadcast, Setup, & Manage Streaming for Mac OS X 10.2
Overview
This one-day demonstration-lecture based seminar focuses on
understanding how to setup, manage, and use QuickTime Broadcaster and
QuickTime Streaming Server on Mac OS X 10.2. This seminar focuses
QuickTime Broadcaster and QuickTime Streaming Server. Since both of
these applications can be run on either Mac OS X or Mac OS X Server, we
make no distinction between them in this seminar. However we will use
Mac OS X Server as the basis for our demonstrations.
Many users and administrators want a quick and easy way to share video
and audio, including video conferencing. Video conferencing reduces
travel for most businesses and results in a considerable savings of time
and effort. Sharing videos of home movies with friends and family allows
the home user to show everyone what they've been up to; how the kids
have grown, their new pet, etc... QuickTime Broadcaster and QuickTime
Streaming Server allow both of these scenarios to happen and at little
or no cost, since QuickTime Broadcaster and QuickTime Streaming Server
are currently free of charge from Apple Computer. This fast-paced,
one-day seminar is for those who are thinking of implementing either one
or the other or both pieces of software on their systems. The seminar
gives an in-depth overview of the technologies behind streaming and how
to setup and manage a streaming system.
You will learn
- What protocols are used when running a QTSS.
- How to evaluate your system to see how you can best utilize QTSS.
- Setting up and running QT Broadcaster and QTSS.
- Proper client setup of QuickTime.
- How to use QuickTime Pro
- How to use iMovie and save iMovies as streaming movies.
- Setting up broadcasts
- Creating and understanding Playlists.
- Setting up a relay.
- Restricting access to movies for profit or security reasons.
- The basics of embedding QuickTime information in a web page.
- How Network Address Translation and Firewalls can affect QTSS.
- Spot and fix potential bottlenecks in your broadcast and stream.
Who should attend ?
- Users and Administrators interested in setting up their own QTSS and QT Broadcaster.
- Administrators looking to save time, money, and manpower in their companies by instituting QT Broadcaster and QTSS to reduce travel and increase productivity through the proper distribution of live and pre-recorded streams.
