OSXFAQ Mac OS X Tip-of-the-Day
Desktop Deeds - Quick Shortcuts
By Adrian Mayo - Editor - OSXFAQ
Quickly create a shortcut to the current document. Click and briefly hold the little document icon in a window's top bar. Then drag it to the desktop to make a shortcut to that document.
Obviously, the icon can be dragged to any Finder window too to create the shortcut in another folder. Hold down the Command key to create a copy instead of a shortcut.
If you find this does not work then save the document first and try again.
If the desktop if covered, you can grab a file from the desktop, or drop one onto it, using the Finder's desktop icon:
Create a Desktop Printer.
