Trouble-Shooting II (System) - Very Clean Start

After having gone through all of the previous steps, if problems remain
it's time to start unplugging. Some peripherals are plug-n-break.
Remove all non-essential hardware - USB and Firewire.
Disconnect from the Internet and the local area network by unplugging
all ethernet cables. Remember to disable Airport in System
Preferences:Network. Don the turtle-neck and restart.
Disable all non-Apple system startup items by booting with the shift
key held down. Note that this is different to logging in with the
shift key pressed, which disables just your personal startup items.
You could also try removing additional PCI cards and RAM that did not
come fitted to your Mac.
