Mail.app - Email Current Documents
Here's a very quick way to email the document you are currently working on.
Save the document first, then grab the small document icon in the title bar and drag it either to an existing email, or onto the Mail.app icon in the Dock to start a new email. The document will be added as an attachment.
The little document icon can, in fact, be dragged onto any appropriate application. Dragging it onto the desktop or a folder creates an alias to the current document. Command-dragging it (hold down the Command key while dragging) onto the desktop or a folder creates a copy. Handy!. Sometimes.
