Save As Dialogue - Browsing

By Adrian Mayo - Editor - OSXFAQ

We use the Save As dialogue so often that sometimes we forget just how flexible it now is. Set the 'Save As' twisty pointing down (see the screen shot) and the 'Where' pop-up will show the same list of devices and shortcut locations as the Finder's left hand pane. Additionally, and very useful, is a list of recently selected folders, which varies between individual applications (and is shared between certain groups of applications).

Click the 'Save As' twisty to reveal a full Finder style navigation panel. The pop-up changes to show the complete directory hierarchy to the currently selected folder, followed by the list of recently selected folders.

The navigation panel lets you navigate just as you do using the Finder. Use the back and forward buttons, change the view between list and column, and create new folders. You can even connect to a server from the Network icon in the top left pane.

Enjoy !! :-)
